Freight Brokerage Logistics FAQs
No, FST’s freight brokerage services work with any product type, dry or refrigerated.
A freight brokerage doesn’t typically own any trucks/assets whereas an asset-based company owns the trucks/assets. FST however, is an asset-based 3PL with a freight brokerage. This means our freight brokerage services are backed with over 100 dry and reefer fleets and 420 trailers. Our team can utilize both to improve delivery times and pricing.

Freight brokerages are the middleman between the shipper (the maker or owner of the product) and the trucking company that moves the freight. They do not physically move freight themselves but arrange for the transport of goods.
By servicing multiple customers, freight brokerages have greater access to freight lanes that carriers are searching for to keep their drivers moving. By decreasing carrier costs through lower deadhead miles and having access to lanes that will get drivers back to their hometown (backhauls), freight brokerages can source carriers for lower costs and pass those savings to their customers.
